Ice Ice oh Baby

So for six days I did not leave my house! Yep came home last Sunday and did not leave till the afternoon!  I posted a few pics the other day of the first fun in the snow/ice but I thought I would let you see some more of our cabin fever fun!!

Well, we finally got some snow on top of the solid ice and we could make snow angels!!

Emma got in on the angel fun!

 happy to be outside
briefly we tried to spray color the snow but we need a different type of spray bottle so it didn't last long

The kids loved to body surf silly boy didn't need no sled or nothing:)
Daddy being careful to not fall and re hurt his back.
Emma thought cardboard was way more fun the the sled.
 pretty ice
cardboard twins:)  Yes that is me wearing Daniel's huge coat

He is my snow baby for sure!  He loves all of it!!
I think this is the most fun she has had in the snow, might be that she is finally able to get around pretty good in it.  She laughed and squealed for days out there!!
We made some yummy snow cream with the fresh snow!
Emma is not so sure but she tried it
We have heard a lot of singing and a lot of dancing in this house!!
We have worked on some learning skills.  Taylor worked on scissor skills and Emma worked on spelling words!
We played with vinegar and baking soda!  Fizzy fun!!!
We painted on ice with water colors
we made marble paper using shaving cream and food coloring!

we of course made cookies and brownies and muffins........

 Taylor learned to shave lol!!
we made paper plate cookies after reading "Give a Mouse A Cookie"  well honestly it was "Take a Mouse to School"  for some reason I don't have the cookie book. Not sure how that has happened, but will work on getting that soon.
We watched icicles get longer and longer and longer
mommy got so bored she made the kids a reading nook in the living room.  (okay needed them happy for twenty minutes so I could workout)

Despite the Snow I am dreaming of Easter

Day three of ice/snowed in here at my house! But I am dreaming of warmer days, spring flowers and Easter dresses for my baby girl.  With that in mind, I would like to share a little about a sweet book I received to review.

Little Blessings Easter Stories and Prayers by Kathleen Long Bostrom is a sweet book I would recommend for any young children or in my case a young child and a special needs child.  Emma also needs easier to understand books as she is still working on vocabulary that she is still lacking from having hearing loss.  She needs simple books to help her with fluency and understanding.  This book is perfect for both of my kids.

I like that it is beautifully illustrated by Elena Kucharik.  The pictures are colorful and so cute. I just want to climb in and live in each scene.  It has cute little animals, kids and backgrounds.  I think every kid will love to look and explore each page.

I also love how each page is either one or two verses of simple, rhyming words that explore different parts of the Easter story and about following Jesus in general.  The words are easy to understand and the rhyming makes it a good read aloud choice due to the fluency of the text.  All those elements will make it a great read aloud as you teach about Easter with your kids or  your Sunday school classes as well.

I am really looking forward to sharing many snuggle times reading this as a family.  It will be added to our Easter collection with pride.  I hope you are able to also snag this sweet book to add to your collection!  Here is a link to my Amazon review and a quick way to order the book as well.

*I received this book through Tyndale Blog Network for the purpose of this review. My honest opinion was all that was requested.

A Good Weekend

I love to find fun inexpensive things to do with my family on the weekend.  This weekend we got to do several of our favorites and most were free!  That makes it even better for the wallet:)

Saturday we headed to the closest Home Depot for the once a month kids workshops the hold.  This month both kids made little Valentine's pots.  They turned out so cute!  Emma decided to give hers to her Meme and after painted it put two flowered kitchen clothes in it.  It is a tiny pot and we opted to not do flowers. We had to actually give the gift to Meme today, because Emma could not wait. Taylor wants to keep his and put chocolates in it.  He is my sweet tooth kid for sure!  After, that fun adventure, we went to one of our favorite pizza places and ate lunch with my mom and dad.  The kids love this place because it has a few little arcade type of games in a back room.  We like it because the food is good:)  After refueling on yummy pizza, we got back into the car and headed to the awesome newly rebuilt local library.  This is an amazing new building!  The kids wanted to show daddy the new kids area since we normally go during the week when he is at work.  We spent an hour looking at all the new books, checking out huge stacks, and playing with all the cool toys they have out.  Yep toys!  This place has a huge tinker toy set that is massive, computers, train tables, and lots of little reading nooks to sit down in.  We love it and spend a lot of time there.

After, all that fun Daddy needed to rest his hurt back, but the kids wanted to play outside.  The weather was so pretty we went on a hike at our favorite place Hidden Lake by our house.  It was a perfect little outing with the kids.  We of course missed daddy!  Then, we came home and played outside about two more hours.  It was a glorious day all around!  Taylor was so tired he fell asleep on the couch watching TV while I cooked dinner.  Poor thing!  I was able to wake him up for dinner and a bath.

Today we attended church, ate lunch with Daniel's parents and took a long afternoon nap.  My favorite part of the day:) I love that Emma likes to fall asleep for a nap holding my hand!  I will take it, she will not want to do that much longer I am sure.  After nap we worked on Valentines for her class and ate breakfast for dinner.

Now the kids are tucked in for a night of rest before a busy fun week!!  I should go and join them in slumber land!  It was a fun weekend!  Always on the lookout for family fun on a budget!
